Microsoft Excel

Set up the Microsoft Excel app to display a live spreadsheet on your ScreenCloud Arc screens.

The ScreenCloud Microsoft Excel app lets you display an Excel workbook stored in OneDrive directly on your screens. Once connected, any changes made to the workbook are automatically reflected on screen.

About this App

Tools You Already Know

Spreadsheets are everywhere in your company. Share metrics and data directly from the sheets your team already uses.

Easy to Set Up

Log in to your Microsoft account and select the relevant sheet and cell range. Those values appear on screen with no extra effort.

Automatic Updates

ScreenCloud automatically checks periodically for changes to the sheet, keeping your data up to date on screen without any extra work.

Setting Up the Microsoft Excel App

The Microsoft Excel app can be added to a Collection.

The app only works with Excel Online files saved to OneDrive. If your workbook only exists locally, upload it to OneDrive first, or create a new workbook directly at office.com.

Adding via a Collection

  • Go to Collections.

  • Select the Collection you want to add the app to, or create a new one.

  • Click the Apps tab, then Add app.

  • Select Microsoft Excel from the list of apps, then click Create.

Pinned header row

If enabled, pins the top row of your spreadsheet so it stays fixed and visible when the data scrolls.

Connecting Your OneDrive Account

  • Click Select Items.

  • Choose Sign in with Microsoft, then authenticate with your Microsoft account.

  • Browse your OneDrive and select the workbook you want to display.

  • Select which worksheet to display from that workbook, then click Select WorkSheet.

Your Excel workbook must be stored in your own OneDrive, and you must be the owner of the file.

FAQ

How often will the app pull in updates from the spreadsheet?

The app auto-refreshes and pulls in new updates every five minutes.

How many results does it fetch?

The app only supports displaying a single worksheet from a single Excel file. The range of data fetched is fully customisable, you can display all used cells or narrow it down using the Cell range setting.

My cell range is too large to fit on screen. What happens?

The app automatically scrolls vertically until the last row in your range is shown, then continues scrolling to a blank white screen. We recommend timing how long it takes to reach the last row, then setting your Collection's duration for the app to move on before it goes blank.

Can the app support charts, graphs, or advanced formatting, such as coloured cells?

No. If you need to display charts, consider using ScreenCloud's PowerBI app instead to build dashboards from your spreadsheets.

How are the results ordered?

Rows and columns display in the same order as they appear in the worksheet.

Can I select multiple Excel sheet tabs to display and cycle through in the app?

Each app instance only displays a single sheet tab. To show multiple tabs, add multiple instances of the app, each pointing to a different tab, and place them together in the same Collection.

Does the app work offline?

No, the app doesn't support offline mode.

Does the app support custom themes?

No, the app doesn't currently support custom themes.

I'm stuck on the error "An error has occurred whilst loading Workbook Data." How do I fix this?

Sign out and choose Sign in with Microsoft again rather than reusing an existing session. Also confirm you're the owner of the Excel file and that your Microsoft account has the required permissions to connect with ScreenCloud.

I'm stuck on the error "An error has occurred while displaying your OneDrive items." How do I fix this?

This happens when the folder you're accessing contains more than 200 items. Move the file you need into a new folder with fewer items, then sign in again using Sign in with Microsoft.
