The ScreenCloud Microsoft OneDrive Feed pulls images and videos from a OneDrive folder and turns them into a rotating gallery on your screens, so new media you add to that folder appears automatically without any manual upload.
About this Feed
Automatic, Always-Updating Galleries
Choose a OneDrive folder once, and any images or videos you add there are automatically picked up and shown on screen, with no manual upload required.
Effortless Slideshow Creation
Turn a folder of photos or videos into a rotating on-screen gallery instantly, without building a slideshow by hand.
Simple to Connect
Sign in with a Microsoft account and pick a folder, and content starts appearing on your screens right away, with no further configuration needed.
Setting Up the Microsoft OneDrive Feed
Adding the Feed to a Collection
In your Collection:
Click the Feeds tab, then Add New Feed.
Select Microsoft OneDrive from the list of sources.
Click Add connection to sign in with a Microsoft account, and approve the permission request when prompted. Once you're signed in, the connection is saved, so you can reuse it to set up additional OneDrive feeds without signing in again.
Select the OneDrive folder you want to display, navigating into subfolders if needed until you reach the one you want.
Once everything's filled in, click Save new feed.
Each feed connects to a single folder. If you want to display more than one folder, set up a separate feed for each one — see Single Source Limit in Connecting Feeds to Your Screens.
Editing a Saved Feed
Once a OneDrive feed has been saved, the folder selection can't be changed from the feed's edit screen. To pull from a different folder, create a new feed instead.
Adding to a Screen
For the Collection that has your Microsoft OneDrive Feed, assign it to a paired screen:
Open your Collection and select the Screens tab.
Click Connect a screen, and select the paired screen you want to display it on.
It will play in the Main zone of the screen, provided the screen already has a Layout assigned.
To learn how often the OneDrive content will appear on screen, see Automated Playback and Content Rotation in Creating Collections for Your Screens. For the general steps that apply to any Feed source, see Setting Up and Connecting a Feed.
Microsoft OneDrive Account Requirements to Connect to ScreenCloud
Connecting requires a Microsoft 365 or Business account; personal Microsoft accounts aren't compatible with the Feed.
You can only display a folder that you own. Connecting to a folder shared with you by another Microsoft account isn't currently supported.
Seeing "Need admin approval"? This means your Microsoft account doesn't currently have permission to authorize third-party app connections. Ask a Microsoft 365 administrator or account owner in your organization to sign in to the OneDrive Feed with their Microsoft account first and approve the required permissions. Once approved, other users in your organization should be able to connect without seeing this message.
If you're having trouble signing in, clear your browser's cache or try signing in using an incognito or private window. This usually happens when an existing Microsoft login session in your browser conflicts with the connection.
If your organization restricts outbound network access, your IT team may need to whitelist certain domains before the Feed can connect. See the Microsoft entry in Domains & Servers to Whitelist for ScreenCloud for the specific domains required.
What Content Does the Feed Pull from Your OneDrive Account?
The Feed displays image and video files from your selected OneDrive folder. It can't display other file types, such as documents or PDFs, and you can't hand-pick individual files; everything eligible in the folder is included.
Media limit
Connecting to a folder with around 200 or more images can cause the Feed to crash. This is a known issue with the Microsoft API rather than a ScreenCloud limitation. Keep folders under this size, and split larger collections of images across multiple folders and feeds if needed.
Supported file types
JPEG and PNG are supported for images, along with most common video formats. Exact support depends on the browser running on the screen's player device, since playback relies on that browser's built-in format support.
HEIC and HEIF files, the default photo format on iPhones running iOS 11 and later, aren't supported by any modern browser and won't display. Export or reformat these images to JPEG before adding them to the folder.
Order
Files display newest to oldest, based on when each file was last modified. This order isn't currently configurable from within the Feed.
Managing What Shows on Screen
Once the Feed is connected, you have a few ways to review or adjust what's playing on screen.
Managing Posts After They've Arrived
From the Collection's Posts view, you can manage individual posts the Feed has already created:
Hide a post to temporarily remove it from rotation without deleting it.
Show a hidden post again to bring it back into rotation.
Delete a post to remove it permanently.
Since the Feed only reads files from OneDrive, none of these actions change or remove the original file in your OneDrive folder, the connection is read-only.
Finding and Previewing Feed Posts
Every post the Feed creates appears in the Collection's Posts view alongside your manual posts, where you can filter the view by Feed of origin to see only the files pulled in from OneDrive. Each post also has its own Preview option, so you can check exactly how it'll look on screen before it plays.
See Connecting Feeds to Your Screens and Creating Posts for Your Screens for the full set of options available on posts created from a Feed.
FAQ
Can I select a shared OneDrive folder owned by another Microsoft account?
No. You can only display folders that you own yourself.
I can't log in with my Microsoft account. What can I do?
Try clearing your browser's cache, or sign in using an incognito or private browser window. This issue is usually caused by an existing Microsoft login session already active in your browser. If you're still unable to log in, contact ScreenCloud support.
I'm seeing "We had a problem fetching your feeds, please refresh and try again." How do I fix this?
This happens when the feed's login session has expired and needs to be reauthenticated. Sign out of Microsoft in your browser, or clear your browser cache, then set up the OneDrive feed again with a fresh sign-in.
