Writing Posts with the AI Writing Assistant

Learn how to brief the AI Writing Assistant, refine its drafts, add them to a post, and how chat history and privacy work in ScreenCloud Arc.

The AI Writing Assistant sits alongside the post editor in your Collections. You describe what you want to say, it writes a draft, and you keep refining it in conversation until it's ready to post. This article covers how to brief it, how drafts work, and how your chat history is kept and cleared. For the basics of creating a post, see Creating Posts for Your Screens.

Opening the AI Writing Assistant

  1. Open the Collection you want to post to.

  2. Go to the Posts tab.

  3. Find the AI Writing Assistant panel to the right of the post editor.

To get started, either pick one of the quick message options, such as An Announcement, A Birthday message, or Praise a colleague, or type your own request in the Ask anything... box and send it.

Briefing the Assistant

Brief the Assistant the way you'd brief a colleague. Tell it what the message is about, who it's for, and any key details such as a time, a place, or an instruction.

When You Give It Enough Detail

If your request has what it needs, the Assistant writes the post straight away. A short note above the draft tells you what it wrote and any assumptions it made, so you can correct anything that's off.

When Details Are Missing

If something important is missing, the Assistant asks you one question that covers the two or three things it needs, rather than a long list of questions. For example:

  • You ask: "Can you help me put out a safety announcement?"

  • The Assistant asks what the safety issue is, and where and when it's happening.

  • You reply: "It's a fire drill on Thursday at 10am. Everyone meets in the front parking lot, and don't use the elevators."

  • The Assistant writes the post.

Reviewing and Using a Draft

Each draft appears in the chat as a draft card, showing a preview of how the post will look on screen. The post editor doesn't change while you review it.

When you're happy with a draft:

  1. Click Use this draft on the draft card. The title and text are added to the post editor, and the button changes to Added.

  2. Make any final changes in the editor. You can still add files, format text by hand, or set a schedule.

  3. Click Post.

For the formatting options available in the editor, see Formatting Your Text. For scheduling, see Scheduling When a Post Plays.

Refining a Draft

You don't have to accept the first draft. Keep asking for changes in the same chat, and the Assistant replies with a short note on what it changed and a new draft card. Each request builds on the last, so earlier changes such as tone or a list format are kept.

Requests you might make:

  • Length: "Make it shorter, people will only see this for a few seconds."

  • Formatting: "Put the instructions in a list."

  • Targeted edits: "Add that people should leave their belongings behind."

  • Tone: "Make it a bit friendlier."

  • Translation: "Translate this post into Polish."

Scroll up in the panel at any time to see the full conversation, including each draft and what the Assistant changed.

How Chat History Works

Each page you write from has its own conversation, so the Assistant's suggestions stay relevant to the post in front of you.

Where you're writing

How the chat works

Creating a post in a Collection

One chat per Collection. It's cleared once you post, so your next post starts with a fresh chat.

A contributor post request

Each pending or rejected request has its own chat. Saving or resubmitting the request starts a new chat.

Editing a live post

Each post has its own chat.

Privacy and Clearing a Chat

Your chats with the Assistant are private to you. Other users in your account can't see them.

To clear a chat, click Clear chat, the trash icon at the top of the AI Writing Assistant panel. This only clears the conversation you're in. Chats on other Collections or posts aren't affected.

A conversation expires after 24 hours without use and is then deleted automatically. The deletion itself can take a little longer to complete.

FAQ

Will the Assistant change my post without asking?

No. Drafts stay in the chat until you click Use this draft. Nothing in the post editor changes before then.

What happens if my connection drops while I'm waiting for a reply?

The message is retried automatically, including if your session has expired. You get one reply to the message, not a duplicate.

Why does the reply appear a little at a time?

Replies show as they're being written, so you can start reading straight away instead of waiting for the full response.

Why has my chat history disappeared?

A chat is cleared when you post from that Collection, when you click Clear chat, or after 24 hours without use.
