The ScreenCloud Staffbase Feed pulls News Channel posts from Staffbase and turns them into posts on your screens, so news, campaigns, and announcements reach every employee without any extra design work.
About this Feed
Unify Internal Communications for Everyone
Already using Staffbase as your employee communications hub? Extend your most important news, campaigns, and updates beyond the intranet and onto digital signage, so frontline, deskless, and office-based employees stay informed and aligned.
One Source of Truth, Everywhere
Connect your Staffbase account and select the News Channels you want to display. Publish once in Staffbase and see updates automatically appear on screens across your organization, without duplicating work or managing a second platform.
Designed for Screens, Built for Impact
Staffbase content is automatically reformatted for digital signage, using bold layouts and clear messaging optimized for visibility. Add QR codes to link back to the full story in Staffbase, and use AI Instructions to control exactly what comes through.
Setting Up the Staffbase Feed
Adding the Feed to a Collection
In your Collection:
Click the Feeds tab, then Add New Feed.
Select Staffbase from the list of sources.
Click Add connection, select your Region, and enter your Staffbase site URL, Client ID, and Client Secret (see Staffbase Account Requirements below).
Choose a language, then select the News Channel or Channels you want to display.
Optional: add an AI instruction to shape how incoming posts are handled.
Once everything's filled in, click Save new feed.
Each feed connects to a single language and News Channel selection. If you want to display a different combination, set up a separate feed.
Editing a Saved Feed
Once a Staffbase feed has been saved, the language and News Channel selection can't be changed from the feed's edit screen. To pick a different combination, create a new feed using the same Client ID and Client Secret.
Adding to a Screen
For the Collection that has your Staffbase Feed, assign it to a paired screen:
Open your Collection and select the Screens tab.
Click Connect a screen, and select the paired screen you want to display it on.
It will play in the Main zone of the screen, provided the screen already has a Layout assigned.
To learn how often the Staffbase content will appear on screen, see Automated Playback and Content Rotation in Creating Collections for Your Screens. For the general steps that apply to any Feed source, see Setting Up and Connecting a Feed.
Staffbase Account Requirements to Connect to ScreenCloud
Connecting requires an OAuth Client ID and Client Secret from Staffbase, along with your Staffbase site URL and Region.
Creating a ScreenCloud OAuth Client in Staffbase
In Staffbase, click your username, then select Studio.
In Staffbase Studio, go to Settings (the cog icon), then OAuth. You can also go directly to
https://[your-company]staffbase.com/admin/settings/oauthclients, replacing[your-company]with your own Staffbase org name.
Click + Create OAuth Client, and select WEB.
In Client Name, give it a name such as
ScreenCloud.
In Scopes, enter:
Groups.Manage.All, Users.Read.All, openid, offline_access.
In Redirect URI, enter the callback URL for your region:
EU:https://apps-api-connections-platform.eu.screencloudapps.com/staffbase/auth/callbackUS:
https://apps-api-connections-platform.us.screencloudapps.com/staffbase/auth/callbackIn Allowed CORS Origins, enter:
https://platform-editor.apps.screencloud.com.
Click Create.
Copy the Client Secret immediately and store it somewhere safe. It disappears after the page refreshes and can't be retrieved again. The Client ID stays visible on this page if you need it later.
Only News Channels that are available to all users, or accessible to the Staffbase login used to connect, will appear as selectable. If a News Channel you expect isn't listed, check its visibility settings in Staffbase.
What Content Does the Feed Pull from Your Staffbase Account?
The Feed displays posts from the News Channel or Channels you selected, in the language you chose when setting it up.
Text
Only the post's Title and its Teaser text or Article text are displayed; a News post's Summary field is not picked up. Text size automatically adjusts to fit the available space.
Links
Links included in a post can appear on screen as a scannable QR code, giving viewers a way to read the full story in Staffbase on their own device.
Managing What Shows on Screen
Once the Feed is connected, you have several ways to control which Staffbase posts end up on screen, and to review or adjust them afterwards.
Filtering Incoming Posts with AI Instructions
Use AI Instructions to control what comes through from your selected News Channels before it reaches your screens. Write your own instruction or choose from the built-in templates to rewrite, filter, or translate posts as they arrive. For a Staffbase feed, this could mean:
"Only show posts tagged as company-wide announcements."
"Filter out routine updates, keep only leadership communications."
"Summarize long news posts into a single screen-friendly line."
"Translate incoming posts from English to Spanish."
You can test an instruction against your existing Staffbase posts before saving it, to see exactly which posts it would show or hide.
Managing Posts After They've Arrived
From the Collection's Posts view, you can manage individual posts the Feed has already created:
Hide a post to temporarily remove it from rotation without deleting it.
Show a hidden post again to bring it back into rotation.
Delete a post to remove it permanently.
Since the Feed only reads posts from Staffbase, none of these actions change or remove the original post in Staffbase, the connection is read-only.
Finding and Previewing Feed Posts
Every post the Feed creates appears in the Collection's Posts view alongside your manual posts, where you can filter the view by Feed of origin to see only the posts pulled in from Staffbase. Each post also has its own Preview option, so you can check exactly how it'll look on screen before it plays.
See Connecting Feeds to Your Screens and Creating Posts for Your Screens for the full set of options available on posts created from a Feed.
Changing How Your Feed Appears on Screen
Posts created by the Staffbase Feed pick up the Theme applied to the screen they play on, including its colors and text styling. See Creating a Theme for Your Screens for how to customize the look of your posts.
FAQ
Can I connect more than one Staffbase News Channel or language?
Yes. Each feed supports one language and News Channel selection, so create a separate feed, using the same or a different Client ID and Client Secret, for each combination you want to show.
